There are so many new advancements in the are of mobile learning in education. Colleges are the main schooling where mobile learning and Learning Management Systems are present; however, they are becoming more and more apparent in secondary education today. First, what is Learning Management Systems (LMS) and mobile learning. Mobile learning is fairly simple-- the ability to learn wherever you are as long as you have an electronic device and internet access. Learning Management Systems are simple also; however, it is a little more in depth then simply needing a device. LMS are the foundations for mobile learning. They are platforms that hold the lessons, links, grading and data, and more. We will look into Google Classroom, but here is a link to a few other LMS systems popular in secondary education. Google Classroom is one of the top LMS systems along with their Gsuite apps that schools have adopted into their schools.
Pros: --Google Classroom is user friendly and allows students and teachers to link documents, slides, sheets, in their Google apps. --Students can complete assignments in Google Classroom and teachers can electronically grade the assignments and assign a grade. --Teachers can post links to other websites, so students can access the website with ease, so the class can move forward and time is not wasted. --Students can collaborate and write peers reviews in the comment sections. --If working on a project together, students can easily find what they are working on. --Google Classroom and the Gsuite apps can be downloaded to ipads, tablets, and cellphones for access anywhere. --Easy to keep all documents and assignment/project material together in one place. Cons: -- Cannot access if do not have wifi. --Takes time to figure out some of the features. --Troubleshooting with some posting of assignments and data. --Need class time to initially teach the program to students.
